There are a number of Agencies providing Flights and Holiday Packages to North Cyprus. Flight only deals are available.

While most tourists are couples or familties, there is an increasing number of women tourists. North Cyprus is generally safe for women traavelling on their own or in pairs. They will receive attention, but a firm refusal will normally end unwelcome attention.

Due to the refusal of the Greek Cypriot South to endorse the Annan Plan, all flights to North Cyprus are routed via Turkey. Onur Air and Cyprus Turkish Airline Flights request that passengers remain on board during the stopover at Istanbul. This is some 45 minutes.

The main airport in North Cyprus is Ercan, and this has recently been refurbished in anticipation of an upgrade to an International Airport.

Most package operators will meet their customers at Ercan and transport them to their hotel. Direct Traveller also operate flights via Larnaca in the Greek Republic of Cyprus where customers are collected and transported to their hotels in North Cyprus. While this avoids a 45 minute wait at Istanbul, it does mean that customers need to cross the border near Nicosia. During the last week of January 2006, significant delays occurred due to the vigilence of customs officers in response to the 'bird flu' threat. Since June 2006, the Greek border guards have implemented a policy of confiscating property documents relating to North Cyprus. Several British tourists have been taken to a Police Station for questioning and have missed their flight home from Larnaca.

Many visitors will wish to eat out in the evening, and there are numerous bars and restuarants. These are also safe for women tourists and the young waiters will be eager to engage in conversation with them.
